SaaviHome is now offering multiple educational courses designed to help design and build professionals strengthen their working knowledge of residential technology systems and possibly earn continuing education credit. Educating architects, building designers, builders, interior designers, and remodelers on ways to increase their business through home technology is top priority for the SaaviHome team!
These educational sessions were developed by CEDIA, a residential electronic systems industry trade organization of which SaaviHome is a member.
The demand for technology-based entertainment, convenience, and security solutions continues to grow. To help design and build professionals stay abreast of industry trends, CEDIA has created the Outreach Instructor program, responsible for developing course materials and training CEDIA members to deliver the education. CEDIA has worked with several residential organizations to create current, relevant content that helps attendees better understand the role technology plays in the modern, connected home. Members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD), IDCEC-governed Interior Designer associations (ASID, IIDA and IDC), and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) can receive continuing education credit for their participation in approved courses.
As a CEDIA Outreach Instructor, SaaviHome offers course titles including Shade and Window Treatments Overview – Motorize, Integrate and Automate and Designing to Disguise: The Art of Hiding Technology, among others. These courses are designed for architects, homebuilders, remodelers, interior designers, building designers and related professionals.

Course Description
As with other rough-in trades, electronic systems should be planned for well in advance of construction and documented at the construction drawing phase of design. This course describes the processes used by professionals in the project planning, design, and installation phases of electronic systems. Participants will be able to identify the different types of residential systems and the unique impact of each on specific design considerations, such as space, framing, electrical, and ventilation requirements. This course will also help attendees identify and analyze benefits of working with trained electronic systems professionals.
Intended Audience
This course is intended for architects, building designers, interior designers, builders, remodelers, and other professionals within the design and build industry who would like an in-depth look at planning for electronic systems in the home.
These COI courses are part of CEDIA’s industry outreach efforts, designed to strengthen collaboration between home technology professionals and the design and build industry. As technology continues to grow and change at a rapid pace, the courses that Gavin Lantzy offers help design and build professionals better understand the capabilities of residential electronic systems. The courses are provided at no charge by SaaviHome.
